Qualifications required for climatology

Climatologists tend to need specific subjects in their qualifications so think about this when planning your career moves. As always, experience is helpful.

Qualifications

• You will need a strong background in maths and science so it helps to have these subjects to A-level.
• This field may be more suited to someone with a Bachelor of Science degree due to the science element.
• As well as a bachelor’s degree, most employers like you to have an MSc in Climatology. This is especially true if you want to work in private consulting or government jobs.

 

Work experience

Experience tends to be preferred in candidates applying to this role so it may be necessary to work up from a junior post.
It may be helpful to complete an internship whilst completing your studies to gain practical experience
