Doctoral Training Centres
Research Councils are moving increasingly to the model of Doctoral Training Centres to attract and support talented and skilled researchers at doctoral level. Students undertake a 4-year PhD course or equivalent where a first year of taught coursework(broadly equivalent to Masters in level and content) allows time for exploration before deciding on a challenging and original project. Other activities develop breadth of knowledge plus transferable skills training.
The University has been successful in attracting funding for a number of these Centres, as follows:
