Event details

This lecture series, "Unknown War", is designed to show-case original research at the University of Southampton from across the Faculty of Humanities.

Next year marks the centenary of the Armenian genocide, which the British government today  - amongst  others -  refuses to acknowledge as such. Yet at the time Whitehall commissioned the first major public report detailing the atrocities. If this strange discrepancy should be noteworthy in itself, the assault on the Armenians was far from the only one of its kind. This lecture will consider how large the potential list might be as well as the longer term legacy of Great War genocides through to the present day.
