Hi, I'm Susannah Malone and I studied BSc (Hons) Healthcare Science within Health Sciences at the University of Southampton.

This course has worked out well for me. I love learning about the anatomy of the body. There’s lots of patient contact too and plenty of opportunities to see what I’ll be doing after I qualify.

After arriving here for the University's open day I immediately knew I wanted to study here.  I just felt incredibly comfortable and at home in the environment.

The two week induction period on campus before my course started was really useful in helping me settle into student life and I have continued to feel well supported in all aspects of my study.

I enjoy the scientific element to the course - it's a real mix of science and communicating with patients. Most of my lectures actually take place in a hospital setting which enables me to feel in touch with the healthcare professionals which I hope to be working with.

On work placement at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth I was made to feel part of the team where everyone wanted to help me learn. It's been an amazing opportunity to put everything into practice which I've learnt in the skills lab.

On graduating I hope to work as a cardiac physiologist to really get a sense of doing something to help people.

Studying for a masters is an interesting option but I'm most excited about just getting out there and doing the job.
