Health Sciences at the University of Southampton offers both well established and newly developed, continuing professional development options, which meet the demands for a flexible workforce of health and social care professionals prepared to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow. The aim is to provide continuing professional development to enable practitioners to work in new and innovative ways and to provide the highest standards of care and service throughout their careers.

Healthcare is increasingly complex and constantly changing. In order to deliver the high standards of quality healthcare that is required for individuals, groups, societies and communities, health care professionals need to continue their learning and take up education opportunities for personal and professional development which enable them to remain up-to-date.

Our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) provision is flexible and designed to suit today's busy professional.

Our range of full and part-time opportunities range from degree top-ups for non-graduates to master's qualifications and doctorates.

We run many CPD programmes for both individuals and health care providers through modules or flexible learning opportunities. All are based on our exciting range of modules, mapped to the NHS knowledge and skills framework and the regulations of professional bodies.

 

Study at postgraduate level

Our full-time or part-time MSc programmes will develop your clinical practice, leadership or clinical research skills.

Credit for prior learning

  • Work based learning modules offer the opportunity to gain academic credit for the knowledge and skills you may be developing and implementing in your workplace. 

  • Credits can be achieved through the accreditation of prior learning (APL) for short courses or work based projects that have resulted in learning and can count towards an academic award.
