Our work is focussed on carrying out research to enhance the lives of individuals affected by cancer, other life-limited conditions and those at the end of life. Our activities are directed towards understanding and responding to peoples’ experiences and concerns. Our portfolio consists of three programmes of research focussed on (1) developing, testing and evaluating complex interventions to improve the outcomes of those affected by cancer and other life-limiting conditions (2) examining access, utilisation, quality, delivery, organisation and outcomes of services for those affected by cancer and other life-limited conditions to improve service delivery and organisation (3) understanding experiences of recovery and restoration of health and well being following primary cancer treatment to enhance peoples’ return to normal life. We use a range of methodologies from qualitative approaches, to large-scale observational studies, surveys and clinical trials. We host the Cancer Experiences Collaborative (CECo), a National Cancer Research Institute’s Supportive and Palliative Care Research Collaborative, whose aim is to increase research capacity and quality in supportive and palliative care research. The group also includes the Macmillan Survivorship Research Group.
