Prospective postgraduate students
History offers a wide range of stimulating and innovative courses for postgraduate students. Covering topics from Jewish antiquity to the end of the Cold War, Masters level tuition is organized within the broad framework of the MA/MRes History or the more specialized programmes in Medieval and Renaissance Culture, Eighteenth-Century Studies and Jewish History and Culture. The research interests of our staff permit a similar breadth in the supervision we can offer to candidates for MPhil or PhD degrees.
Postgraduate students at Southampton benefit also from our lively research culture, which incorporates a series of major international conferences and a range of distinct seminar programmes. In addition, students have access to the unique and important archive and special collections of the University's Hartley Library.
We are always pleased to help potential students to frame their AHRC applications. We also offer a number of dedicated scholarships for both our History and Jewish History and Culture Masters Programmes, which are open to any applicants who submit their AHRC forms through us at the same time. For further details, please contact Dr Jonathan Conlin or Professor Joachim Schloer (JHC).
