The Family of Henry VIII

An Allegory of the Tudor Succession

5th November 2011 @ the Avenue Campus (Building 65) 10am-4pm

This study day is the launch event for the programme of Tudor Revels that will celebrate the re-opening of the Tudor House in Southampton. It will form part of a programme of activities co-ordinated by Dr Cheryl Butler (Head of Culture, Eastleigh Borough Council) which will culminate in a grand finale in September 2012. A group of staff from History and English, who are all specialists in the early modern period, will present aspects of their research on the Tudors and Tudor England. The format - a series of 4-5 short talks based on exciting new research with plenty of time for questions - is intended to stimulate discussion and debate. Speakers will include Dr Alice Hunt talking on court ceremonial, Professor Mark Stoyle speaking about witchcraft, Dr Francois Soyer discussing heresy and the Spanish Inquisition and Professor Maria Hayward on staging early Tudor court revels.

Places are limited, so book your place early to avoid disappointment.
