History at Southampton
In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, History staff achieved a national ranking of 7th alongside Cambridge and University College London. History’s research environment was deemed ‘outstanding’. Furthermore, and of great importance for Lifelong Learning, the friendly staff foster an informal atmosphere in which students feel free to engage in discussion and debate.
