Positive results in Southampton-led patient trial for new asthma treatment

Scientists from the University of Southampton and Synairgen, a respiratory drug development company spun out from the University, can announce positive data from its Phase II clinical trial, into the effectiveness of the drug SNG001 (inhaled interferon beta) for asthma patients.


Scientists discover genes that influence risk of fracture and osteoporosis

Scientists at the Medical Research Council (MRC) Lifecourse Epidemiology Unit at the University of Southampton have participated in the largest international study of its kind to identify the genes responsible for osteoporosis.


500th baby born to Southampton vitamin D pregnancy study

A landmark Southampton study into the effects of maternal vitamin D supplementation on offspring bone development has seen the birth of its 500th baby.
