Our Foundation Programmes are aimed at motivated students who have completed secondary education in their home country - usually 12 years.
Completing a Foundation Programme helps you to achieve the level of education required to study for a UK undergraduate degree. If you are planning to study an art-related UK undergraduate degree, you may also be advised to complete an Art Foundation Year if you need to improve your art skills.
The National Academic Recognition Information Centre for UK (UK NARIC) can provide further information on the equivalence between overseas qualifications and the UK system. Specific information about entry requirements for different countries is available on our Country pages.
Entry requirements for our foundation programmes
Applicants need IELTS 5.5 or equivalent in all four components, and we also accept a number of other official English language qualifications. The University offers English language courses for international students in the summer and during the academic year to help students to improve their English language and academic skills. Nationals of certain countries are generally given exemption from having to take a formal English language test. See here for a list of exemptions.
