Erasmus at the University of Southampton

The University of Southampton currently has over 240 links with around 173 Erasmus partner institutions across 25 countries. We can offer students studying in 34 different academic disciplines the opportunity to spend a period of study in Europe as a part of their undergraduate or postgraduate degree. Staff can also participate in teaching visits abroad. Every year we welcome around 300 students from our partner institutions across Europe.

As part of our Erasmus University Charter we have developed an Erasmus Policy Statement.

Study placements and staff exchanges
Erasmus mobility opportunities for study periods and staff exchanges is based around bilateral agreements which are set up between partner institutions. At the University of Southampton these links are based on academic discipline at School or department level.

See our list of partners for 2012-13 by academic discipline or by country.

Work placements
Outgoing students who arrange their own work placements with an appropriate European organisation may apply to participate in the Erasmus scheme. Unfortunately the University does not generally offer work placements for students from partner universities.

Administration
The Erasmus programme is co-ordinated across the University by the International Office. Each participating Academic School has its own Erasmus Co-ordinator and Administrator.
