We offer a wide range of Postgraduate Programmes across our 8 Faculties, each of them housing a number of Academic Units.
Our postgraduate programmes are divided into two groups:
- Taught Courses (intensive teaching combined with an individual research project or dissertation)
- Research Programmes (intensive and individual research on a specific topic)
If you have any questions about the course that you are interested in, you should contact the relevant Admissions Tutor. You will find contact details on each online course page, and in the printed prospectus.
What is the duration of the course?
UK Postgraduate Masters usually last 12 months, starting in October. Students complete various taught units in two semesters (from October to January and from February to May) and an individual research project or dissertation during the summer months. UK PhDs (Doctorate Degrees) usually take between 3 and 4 years.
First year students are advised to arrive in Southampton in late September in order to participate in the International and EU Student Welcome Programme.
How much does it cost?
See full tuition fee information here. Note that EU students are eligible for UK fees.
Important information for Pre-Masters Programme students:
Applicants starting the Pre-Masters Programme in 2012 need to send their completed application form as well as ethical form directly to the University instead of using the University online application system. For more information visit our dedicated Pre-Masters Programme web pages.
