The Welcome Programme has been put together by the International Office, Students’ Union and Student Services. It has been designed to help you settle into the City of Southampton and University life, and make new friends. Therefore we would like to encourage all our new international and European students to take part in as many activities as possible. The Welcome Programme will take place on the 23rd and 24th September 2010 with a number of additional activities available to those students arriving from the 20th September onwards. The Students Union will also be arranging activities over the weekend on the 25-26th September 2010.

During the Meet and Greet Service and the Welcome Programme you will be helped by current international and European students who will be able to share their experiences with you and will understand how you are feeling.
Once you have arrived and have settled into your accommodation, you need to go directly to the Student Services Centre to register your arrival and collect your welcome pack. This is important and should be done as soon as possible.
If you are an international student who has been required to obtain a visa in order to study in the UK you must also ensure that you attend an identity 'check in' event as soon as possible following your arrival. Identity 'check in' events with Registry Services will be held during the Welcome Programme on the Highfield Campus.
These 'check in' events are in addition to the identity check your School will carry out prior to giving you your University of Southampton ID card.
Please bring the following ORIGINAL documents to the identity 'check in' event:
1. Your passport
2. Your visa, leave stamps or immigration status document showing your permission to stay in the UK
3. Your biometric identity card
4. Your university student ID number that was sent to you by your School
Please note, if your visa requires registration with the Police you will be able to book an appointment to do so at the identity 'check in' event.
Further information on the 'check-in' events, along with a copy of the Welcome Programme Booklet will be available here in July. Take a look to find out where you need to be on the first day of the Welcome Programme (Thursday 23rd September). You will also receive a hard copy along with a welcome pack when you arrive.
