Computing accounts – expiries and deletions
As a member of the University you are entitled to a computing account but once you leave you will be unable to use the services and facilities of the University, and your account will expire. You may have valid reasons for keeping your account open. You will receive an email warning 28 days before your account is due to expire to give you time to re-organise the content of your account or to apply for an extension.
Group accounts receive expiry notification every three years. As group accounts are not associated with the movements of individuals, this enables us to rid the system of any unwanted or unused accounts, and update our records with the correct nominated group account owner. Club and Society accounts expire every year.
Email notification is sent to the email address of the account. In order to keep the continuity of the account, it is important to apply for renewal as soon as you receive the warning notice. Please check the account email regularly or add an email forwarding address to the account if you only use the account to create web pages.
