Visitors' accounts
Access to computing facilities is not normally allowed to anyone other than current members of the University (holders of a valid University ID card or staff/student identity number). However certain exceptions are made for some honorary staff or external researchers working within a School or University department and an application can be made for a personal computing account. The School or department is responsible for organising this through the Human Resources Office.
Some visitors to the University need accounts for a very short period of time or they need access while their visitor status is sorted out by their School or Service group. iSolutions can create temporary visitors accounts to cover such requirements although authorisation from an associated School will still be required.
External clients attending courses or conferences organised by members of the University may require access to certain facilities for a limited period of time. Conference accounts can be allocated to these groups. Depending on the event, there may be a charge for this service and applications should be made well in advance of the required date.
