About passwords

You will use your username and password every time you access services provided by iSolutions. Along with your username, your password controls access to your computing account and prevents unauthorised access.  Unlike your username, which may be widely known, security is maintained through your password and it should not be given out to anyone else.

The following rules will help you keep your account secure:

  • DO NOT give your password to anyone else (this is a breach of University regulations)
  • DO NOT write down your password
  • DO NOT choose a password based on anyone's name, car registration or anything else associated with yourself.
  • DO NOT use words from a dictionary
  • DO NOT use keyboard sequences (eg. qwerty)
  • Avoid punctuation characters other than  ( ) + - < = >
  • DO change your password regularly - and immediately you think someone else may know your password
