Understanding the Adobe Connect Meeting Interface
The (default) Adobe Connect meeting interface can be broken down in to several key sections.
The default UoS Meeting Template screen for an Adobe Connect meeting will look like this. The screen can be divided into 5 main sections:
1 – The Camera and Voice Pod. This is where any webcams being broadcast will be displayed. You can stop and start your webcam (as long as you have rights to do so) by clicking on the small button (with the camera and microphone icon) in the bottom left hand corner of this pod.
2 – Attendee List. This pod displays all current meeting attendees who are present in the meeting. If you are a presenter, you can click on each name and change the role of the selected user by clicking on the button in the bottom left hand corner of this pod. Selecting a user and clicking on the far-right button in the bottom right hand corner of the pod will allow you to change selected settings for the user, including their enhanced rights.
3 – Chat Pod. This pod allows you to chat with other users in the meeting. You can either send chat messages to everyone in the meeting (default) or you can use the drop down box to select individual users to send a message to. Private / individual messages will appear in a different colour to meeting-wide chat messages.
4 – Share Pod. This is the dominant pod in this particular layout. This is where you can share documents and other materials. There are a number of options for sharing, allowing you to share your computer screen, a specific document, or a collaborative whiteboard area.
5 – Other Options. You may or may not have access to all of the options in this area of the screen depending on your role in the meeting. On the left of the screen you can change your status by clicking on the button on the far left (by default this shows an icon of a person with their hand raised). Next to this is the ‘talk’ button, which you can either click on (hold) whilst you wish to broadcast your voice, or alternatively select the ‘hands free’ button immediately to the right of the ‘talk’ button if you wish to set your voice broadcast to continuous. Towards the middle of the screen are some options for the host to change the layout of the meeting, with default settings offering a choice of 3 different layouts. Further layouts can be added by the host manually.
