Using the Blackboard Digital Dropbox
Blackboard has announced that the Digital Dropbox function will be removed in the next version (version 9) of Blackboard. The functionality will be replaced with an enhanced Assignment feature. While a firm date for the University to upgrade to the next version has not yet been set iSolutions recommends that you do not use the Digital Dropbox feature from June 2010 onwards.
How to receive files from your students using the Digital Dropbox and send them back
Blackboard has announced that the Digital Dropbox function will be removed in the next version (version 9) of Blackboard. The functionality will be replaced with an enhanced Assignment feature. While a firm date for the University to upgrade to the next version has not yet been set iSolutions recommends that you do not use the Digital Dropbox feature from July 2010 onwards.
1. Enter your Blackboard course’s Control Panel.
2. Click on Digital Dropbox.

3. You will be taken to the Digital Dropbox for your course.
Please note that:
All course instructors on your course may view, download, and delete items from the Digital Dropbox.
Submissions are listed in reverse date order, with the most recent submissions at the top of the page.
Blackboard does not send any notifications to instructors when new files are received in the dropbox.
The date and time each submission was made, along with the fullname and iSolutions username of the sender, is shown below the title of the submission.
To download submissions to your computer follow the general instructions on downloading files from Blackboard which are available under "What's Related" on the right of this web page.
Clicking on Remove will delete the item, this will also remove the record of when it was submitted from the original student’s dropbox.
Sending files to students
1. To send a file back to a student click on Send File.
Select users
2. At Step 1 – Select Users, select to whom you wish to send a file. You may select more than one user by holding down the Control key (CTRL) and clicking on each user required with the left mouse button.
File information
3. In Step 2 – File Information, enter details and browse for the file you wish to send:

If you have already uploaded a file to your course’s Digital Dropbox using the Add File button, or wish to send a file that a student has already uploaded to the Digital Dropbox to another user then you may select it from the dropdown list.
Name
If you wish to upload a new file, enter a name for the file you are uploading, for example the title.
File
Click on Browse, a Choose File box will appear, select the file you wish to upload and click on Open.
Comments
Enter any comments you wish the recipient to read regarding this file into the Comments box.
Submit (and important note)
4. Click on Submit to submit the file.
Note:
Please note that students do not receive any notification when new files arrive in their Digital Dropbox.
