Using Search within Blackboard

Note: The Search function in Blackboard has been temporarily disabled whilst a technical issue is resolved.

You may search for material within your Blackboard course. You may search within a single Blackboard course, or within all your Blackboard courses. The search tool will look within Announcements, Course Content appearing as text within Blackboard, Staff Information, HTML pages, DOC (Microsoft Word) files, PPT (Microsoft PowerPoint) files, PDF (Adobe Acrobat) files, Wikis, and Blogs. Other types of file or content uploaded to Blackboard may not be searchable.

Blackboard’s search index is updated once a day. When you perform a search you will be searching content that was indexed up to 24 hours ago. Therefore you may find that content that has only recently been added to Blackboard will not be returned by the search. You should not use the search feature to replace accessing material through browsing your Blackboard course. Please note that only "06-07" and "07-08" courses are currently indexed.
