ActiveSync from a PC
If you are using ActiveSync on a PC, then your email account with Exchange will automatically have been configured as part of the process of setting up ActiveSync. See Setting.
If you have a PC, it is recommended that you use ActiveSync on the PC for your Windows Mobile Device. For iSolutions-supported computers this can be installed from the Start-Control Panel-Add or Remove Programs feature. If you are not using an iSolutions-managed PC, ActiveSync will be part of the software that came with your device, or is free to download from the Microsoft website.
ActiveSync on Mac/Linux
If you are not using ActiveSync on your computer or are for example using a Mac as your computer, you need to manually set up ActiveSync on the mobile device instead. This will then sync directly through the server, bypassing your computer. If the device is a wireless PDA, then you need to be on-campus for synchronisation to occur, but if you are using a Phone device then this should happen from anywhere.
Non-Windows Mobile devices
Some non-Windows Mobile devices (such as the 2nd generation Apple I-Phone, for example) may have Exchange synchronisation capabilities - please refer to your manufacturer’s documentation for this. Any other device that does not support Exchange you will need to connect email via a standard IMAP-based protocol (which will not have the functionality for calendaring, etc). How to do this is found under other mobile devices.

Scheduling automatic synchronisations
Once synchronised, you can tap on the Menu item in the bottom right hand corner and select Schedule. In here you can specify how often you want your device to go and sync back to the server. If, for example you use the device continually you may need it to sync every five minutes.
