SUSSED Groups - becoming a member
‘Groups’ are online communities that you can join in SUSSED. Many groups already exist to help Staff and Students pursue their interests, communicate about research topics, organise their sports clubs and societies or share knowledge about a subject or a service. The various different types of groups are arranged into categories to make them easier for you to find. Below is a brief slideshow explaining how to find and join a group.

SUSSED Groups - My Groups
A new window will launch and by default you will be presented with the ‘My Groups’ tab. If you are a member or leader of any groups they will display in a list in the centre of this window. Click once on the group name to go to that group’s homepage. If you don't yet belong to any groups click on the Groups Index tab...
SUSSED Groups - Groups Index
You are presented with a list of categories. Click on any of them to expand that category and view the groups within it. Alternatively, you can use the ‘Group Search’ form and search for specific words in a group’s name, title or description...
SUSSED Groups - Sports Groups
You will notice some groups have a green icon next to them and others have a yellow one. This denotes whether a group is 'public' or 'restricted'. A green, public group can be joined by anybody at the click of a button. A yellow, restricted group can only be joined by people that meet certain criteria. If you try to join a restricted group you will be asked to read the group’s criteria and to confirm that you meet them. The group leader will then confirm your membership by email.

Another pop-up window appears asking you to read and agree to the Group membership policy and the sharing of your email address with the other group members. Check the boxes to agree and click the ‘Join Group’ button...
SUSSED Groups - Membership accepted
You are now a member. If you go to the homepage of any group that you are a member of you will see that on the left-hand side of the page is a list of links which leads you to all the features of the group. Please note, some features can be disabled by group leaders, so you might see different features in different groups.
