Office network connections
Data network connections are provided for staff working in offices at almost all University sites. These connections are fully managed and supported, and additional connections may be installed in almost all University locations as required. If there is no existing network connection adjacent to your desk, contact your School or Service manager who can arrange for iSolutions to install a new connection at the current charge rate. Connections may also be arranged as part of a School or Service supported network.
The University network is protected by a Firewall. Servers providing external service must be registered in the firewall. Each such registration requires the approval of your head of School or Service.
Network addresses are dynamically allocated. All new systems attached to the network must be registered before obtaining full network access and this is done automatically on starting a Web browser.
