Scanning

Flatbed scanners are provided in most public workstation PC areas. Scanners allow you to convert printed images or text into computer files.

Two types of software are available to use with the scanners:

  • HP Precision Scan for image scanning
  • OmniPage Professional (Optical Character Recognition, OCR) for text scanning.

Scanners are attached to dedicated PC workstations within each room. PCs, with scanners attached, are built with the same software portfolio as the other PCs in the room but also have the additional software installed to enable text and image scanning.

Although these machines can be used as standard PC workstations, priority must be given to those who wish to use the scanning facilities.
