Launch of new Filestore Service

iSolutions is pleased to announce that it has successfully commissioned the first phase of a planned roll out of new filestore services to replace the existing systems and provide a more robust service with capacity for the future.

Last Saturday’s changes saw the transfer of student filestore to new hardware and by the end of November we aim to have moved all users’ My Documents folders to the new service. The next phase will be to provide new infrastructure for shared filestore, more commonly known as the J: drives. We are expecting to move files over school by school and complete the process by Christmas.

We are well aware that there have been some serious issues with filestore services over the last few months and we regret the inconvenience these must have caused. The problems have been the result of ageing hardware, increasing data growth rate and some unexpected technical issues with the service and the data centre. We are confident that with the move to the new services, these issues will be resolved and we will have a reliable and secure service with capacity and growth potential to take us forward.
