Implementation of SAS Feature Request

 - Fix award label report sorting to match the pass list report.

Planon projects

Four fields populated by the new Agresso to Planon interface will be made read-only in Planon and automation for Site Safety Audits will be fixed.

Parking Permits - Update payment method

The Parking Permits system will be updated to change the Payment method from Cash/Cheque to Debit/Credit card through Online Store.

User management - Subribe password restrictions

The password restrictions enforced by Subscribe will no longer allow the angle brackets characters < and > to be used in new passwords. Existing passwords that contain these characters will be unaffected. Subscribe will be unavailable for about 5 minutes.

Migrate staff mailboxes to Exchange 2010

Users with the largest mailboxes on L4 on Exchange 2007 will be migrated to the new Exchange 2010 environment. Users have already been told about the move.

Networking - Move radius authentication from VPN servers to Radius Servers

The B54 and B14 ISS wireless servers will have their radius authentication configured to point to new dedicated Radius servers instead of the VPN servers.

Network Load Balancers – Introduction of new devices

Two Network Load Balancers will be installed to increase the available capacity.

Donor Strategy - Telephone Campaign and Faculty Transition updates (to be confirmed)

Updates will be applied to Donor Strategy that will assist the Office of Development and Alumni Relations with running their Spring 2012 Telephone Campaign as part of their Annual Giving programme to encourage alumni to make charitable gifts to the University. An update will also be applied to align historical faculty data held in Donor Strategy for University of Southampton alumni with the University’s post-transition structure.

Networking - Network outage Print Unit

The networking equipment in Print Unit (Belgrave Industrial Estate) will be shutdown and removed in order to install a new, larger sized rack in order to allow for a new switch to be installed. The outage will only affect the Print Unit which will be closed during the time of the outage.

Deploy Exchange 2010 HUB Transport Configuration

Exchange 2010 HUB Transport settings will be modified to resolve a known issue on the Exchange 2010 platform. Users who have a personal “blocked senders” lists are not experiencing the functionality of this feature within Exchange. Currently, email messages from blocked senders are appearing in the user inbox and are not automatically being sent to the Junk Mail folder.

ResourceLink - Migration of pensions data

Migrate staff mailboxes to Exchange 2010

Remaining staff accounts on Exchange 2007 will be migrated to the new Exchange 2010 environment. Users have been told about the move.

Email - Remove last Exchange 2003 server from Soton domain

The last Exchange 2003 server will be removed.

Data Network - Upgrade software on data networking equipment - multiple campuses/buildings

The data networking equipment in most buildings of most campuses of the University will be upgraded to the latest supported version. This will result in a short network outage on all network points. The only exclusion to this work will be the Data Centre. It is intended to focus on network equipment providing service to public workstation areas during the first hour of each day, in an attempt to minimise disruption to students. The buildings that will be affected by this work are:
2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 22, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 32, 34, 35, 39, 40, 41, 42, 44, 45, 46, 50, 54, 57, 58, 59, 60, 67, University Road houses.
Remote sites: Avenue, Chilworth, IOW, Portsmouth, SGH, WSA.

Active Directory - Introduce new Active directory server

A new server will be introduced to support the new Malaysian Campus (USMC). This server will fulfil the role of a “Domain Controller” which provides authentication and authorisation services as part of Microsoft’s Active Directory. This is part of the work to establish the USMC ‘experience’ in Highfield for users to test. While Active Directory Domain Controllers works as a collective service, it is not anticipated that any other services would be affected as everything will continue to work against the existing domain controllers (that is, no change to ldap.soton.ac.uk or similar services).
