The University Telephone Service

The University Telephone Service provides business telephone, fax, ISDN, voicemail, switchboard, call centre, directory, call logging, billing and dial-up services for university staff & campuses, as well as tie-lines to university hospitals and halls of residences. It is responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, support, administration and development of the computerised systems and the cabling network, as well as for supporting the users of these services.

Each School/Professional Service of the University has a Telephone Liaison Officer who can give advice and must be consulted on changes to the telephone service where charges are involved.

The Telephony Office is on Level 5 in Building 2 of the Highfield Campus. Members of the Telephony Team can be contacted by email to serviceline@soton.ac.uk or by calling extension 24141.

The main university switchboard can be called internally by dialling '0' or externally by calling 023 8059 5000 between 8:30am and 5:00pm.
