Relocation Assistance - Once you start work here, we want you to settle in to your new role, to quickly become an active member of the University community, and to begin to enjoy life in the beautiful surroundings of Hampshire.
The relocation scheme is there to make sure your transition from your previous location is as easy and smooth as possible, whether you are moving from another part of the UK, from Europe, or from another part of the world.
Relocation assistance may be claimed by new employees who are required to take up a post with the University and need to move to a closer location on taking up an appointment as their existing home is not within reasonable daily travelling distance of their new place of work.
You are able to claim for reimbursement of relocation expenses if:

you are a newly appointed member of staff to a permanent or fixed term post of three or more years' duration, which has been advertised nationally (excluding research staff). You must be living at least 50 miles from your new place of work and need to move to take up your position

relocation was offered to you at interview or in your further particulars;

your spouse or partner has not received a similar allowance from any employer;

you are moving to a property which is your main residence and which is in reasonable daily travelling distance of the University, normally within a 50 mile radius or one hours journey time of the campus where you will be based.
Conditions:

The relocation must take place and relevant expenses be claimed within one year of the start date of the appointment and in any case, no later than the end of the tax year following the date of commencement.

All claims must be supported by the submission of receipts.

The University is seeking to meet your costs in relocating your home and not to pay for settlement, e.g., buying a house for the first time.
