Internationalisation Theory and Practice Booklets
We adopt Jane Knight’s definition of internationalisation:
The process through which institutions integrate an international dimension to their teaching, research and service.
Based on research we have been conducting at the University of Southampton for a number of years, and our experience in the University of Southampton Internationalisation Forum (USIF), a number of materials are being developed which may be used as basis for conceptualising practical strategies for engaging with aspects of teaching, research and enterprise in an increasingly multicultural and international HE environment.
The materials provide key theoretical principles and understandings around identified areas of educational, research and enterprise practice and then highlight barriers for international students and hints for overcoming these barriers. Crucially, each of the materials provide a series of practical questions, which academics and other service providers in specific learning, research and service contexts can utilise as basis for further discussion and reflection.
The materials are developed around the three elements of the university’s mission in teaching, research and enterprise.
