Prepare your international students for academic life in your School before they arrive

This lunchtime session will present ‘Prepare for Success’, a free web-based interactive learning resource for international students developed at the University of Southampton. The resource helps HEIs prepare their own international students for the challenges of adjusting to academic culture in the UK before they arrive. It also offers scope for students’ to improve their language skills.  The workshop will explain the different ways in which individual Schools can make use of the resource and there will be an opportunity for hands-on exploration of the resource.

Wednesday 15th October 2008 International Students' Experience DVD

This DVD highlights aspects of the lives of international students at UG, PGT and PGR levels from all 3 faculties. It shows them responding to a range of authentic scenarios about the experiences and challenges of being an international student at the University of Southampton in the early 21st century from their perpective. The overall objective of this short film therefore is to capture experiences and viewpoints of international students currently at the University. By viewing this DVD, it is hoped that staff will be able to gain a better understanding and appreciation of what their international students are feeling and facing at various points along their student life cycle.

Tuesday 24th February 2009 Acoustic Consultancy - LTEF Funded project outcomes

ISVR Consulting supervised a series of highly successful consultancy training projects which enabled groups of 2/3 students at final year MEng or MSc level to participate in consultancy work experience. The projects were facilitated and mentored by a senior member of ISVR Consulting and were undertaken in areas where there was insufficient funding for a fully commercial project of the type that would normally be handled by the engineers within the consultancy group.
