New Academic Staff

As a new member of academic staff you will be expected to complete the PCAP (Post-Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice).

In addition you can:

  • Participate in suitable CPD sessions run by LATEU, or the Staff Development Unit, with the agreement of your manager.
  • Attend or participate in the Good Practice Lunches or Learning and Teaching Week (if you have specific ideas for either please contact LATEU).
  • Attend appropriate external events – some suggestions are listed on our website and see the network pages on the Higher Education Academy website for your subject area .
  • Contact LATEU for individual advice on Quality Assurance or Enhancement issues - or to discuss staff development ideas for a particular group of staff or your School.

  • Presentations and information from previous Learning and Teaching Weeks.
  • An overview of the University Learning and Teaching Enhancement Strategy and information about who is leading on particular issues, and some additional resources.
