Creating Effective Conference Posters with PowerPoint

This session will show you how to use PowerPoint to create full-colour posters to present your research at conferences. Extensive hands-on practice is combined with advice on visual design and practical issues. Participants are encouraged to bring examples of posters they have made or used to act as a focus for discussions about design. After the workshop, participants should be able to:

  • Create large-format posters using PowerPoint
  • Use simple guidelines to improve the design and information content of their posters
  • Know where to have their posters printed, and at what cost
  • Avoid practical problems associated with poster presentations at conferences

Level 1: for early-career researchers and postgraduate research students.

Presented by: Paul Riddy or Adam Warren
