Supporting Students with Dyslexia
This workshop will provide an insight into how dyslexia affects students in Higher Education and will consider various ways students can be supported. It will discuss reasonable adjustments academic schools can provide as well as a range of assistive technology. We will give practical demonstrations of software that can support the writing process.
After the session participants should be able to:
- Have an awareness of how dyslexia affects students' study at university
- Consider what would be a reasonable adjustment for individual students
- Consider the support an academic tutor can provide for dyslexic students
- Have an awareness of how technology can support the dyslexic student
- Have an awareness of how the Dyslexia Service can support dyslexic students
Level 2: for teaching staff, personal tutors and supervisors of undergraduate or postgraduate students.
