About

Professor Sarah Nield is Professor of Property Law at Southampton Law School at the University of Southampton. Her current research focusses on the dynamics of long term property relations including the impact of public law concepts upon the exercise of discretion within property relations and human rights upon disability access. She also continues to explore the challenges faced by communal property relations including mechanisms to balance competing interest over common pool resources. 

She has presented work at many conferences in the UK and overseas including the Biannual Modern Studies in Property Law Conferences, Association of Law Property and Society Annual Conferences, as keynote speaker at the Society of Legal Scholars Annual Conference and the Australian Real Property Law Teachers Conference. 

She is the co-author of Land Law: Text Cases and Materials (2009,2012,2015, 2018 and 2021), Land Law: Core Text (2017 and 2020) and the sole author of Hong Kong Land Law (11992 and 1997), Forest Law and the Verderers of the New Forest (2005) as well numerous leading articles detailed under the Publications Section.
