Published: 11 June 2014

Prospective law students can find out about studying law at Southampton at a special pre-application open day on Wednesday 9 July.

Exams are over - students are free to take their well deserved break
Students leaving the Law School

Our current students will share their experiences of the academic and social side of the Southampton Law School, alongside academics who teach on the LLB programmes. This event will provide a valuable opportunity to gain insights into what it is like to study at Southampton and learn more about the wide range of careers available to law graduates.

The topical theme for the day will be ‘social media and cyber bullying' and will demonstrate that the law is struggling to keep up with the challenges posed by new technologies and instant communication. The event will give prospective applicants the chance to experience what it is like to be an undergraduate law student, and learn how the law impacts on all aspects of our lives.  The study skills and information acquired on the day may also be useful for anyone who will be working towards an Extended Project Qualification.

"Southampton Law School offers a range of exciting degree programmes, but studying law with us involves far more than just sitting in lectures and tutorials," explains Senior Lecturer Leonora Onaran, who is the Law School's admissions tutor for undergraduates.  "Southampton Law students acquire a high quality legal education based on cutting edge research, and they also enjoy opportunities to develop essential transferable skills, network with top barristers, solicitors and other graduate employers, and find out how the knowledge and competencies acquired on a qualifying law degree can be used in the workplace."

To learn more about the event and book your place, contact the Admissions Team before the 30th of June: email ugafbl@soton.ac.uk or call 023 8059 2596.
