Steve Saxby, Professor of IT Law and Public Policy at Southampton, led the annual Computer Law and Security Review (CLSR) seminar on the Digital Citizen, hosted by the international law firm Viera de Almeida at the InstitutoUniversitario de Lisboa. Delegates at the conference examined how the rise of the Internet affects individuals’ relationship with power and society and the ongoing security and privacy issues that arise. A joint paper was presented by Steve, Alison Knight and Henry Pearce from ILAWS for which Alison also was runner-up in the Computer Law and Security 'Best Paper' awards for her work on the paper examining re-identification risk of anonymised personal data.

“This conference has become an important venue for early career researchers and academics to discuss the latest issues and developments at the frontiers of research in this fast-moving field,” says Steve. “It is an opportunity for all participants to foster valuable relationships and develop research collaborations".

The annual IAITL conference series started in 2006 in Hamburg; events have been held in cities across the world ever since.
