Law student Jadesola Ige receives the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship
Jadesola Ige, a student from the Law School has received a place on a Fulbright Study of the US Institute (SUSI) for Student Leaders to study at Indiana University on one of the most prestigious and selective summer scholarship programmes operating world-wide.
As a participant, Jadesola has been selected from a strong applicant pool to experience the US on a 5 week summer programme. She will be undertaking study on Social Entrepreneurship. The program brings undergraduate students from across Europe for a month of coursework, site visits, and service learning in social entrepreneurship. She will meet with social entrepreneurs, participate in community service activities and, finally, present what she has learned to officials at the U.S. Department of State.
Commenting on receiving the place, Jadesola said: "I could not be more pleased about this prestigious scholarship! I am really looking forward to exploring what Social Entrepreneurship means in the States, and exploring my passion for Social Entrepreneurship, especially Gender Equality. I look forward to gaining a transferable wealth of knowledge and experiencing American Culture first hand - we will even be there for July 4th!"

The US-UK Fulbright Commission is the only bi-lateral, transatlantic scholarship programme, offering awards and summer programmes for study or research in any field, at any accredited US or UK university. The Commission is part of the Fulbright programme conceived by Senator J William Fulbright in the aftermath of World War II to promote leadership, learning and empathy between nations through educational exchange. Award recipients and summer programme participants will be the future leaders for tomorrow and support the “special relationship” between the US and UK.
The Commission selects participants through a rigorous application and interview process. In making these awards the Commission looks not only for academic excellence but a focused application, a range of extracurricular and community activities, demonstrated ambassadorial skills, a desire to further the Fulbright Programme and a plan to give back to the recipient’s home country upon returning.
