Last Friday saw 3rd year LLB students Sarah Pimblett and Amber Athill narrowly beat Justin Kanji and Zuhayr Merali from the University of Exeter in the first round of the Landmark Chambers Mooting Competition.

The problem before the court was by no means straightforward and both groups of advocates advanced cogent, original and thoughtful arguments to the court. The judge commenting that the advocacy on the evening was "of the highest order".

After some careful deliberation, it was the Southampton team who emerged victorious. The judge praised their command of the courtroom and their ability to think and answer clearly on their feet during judicial intervention.

Details of round two will be announced shortly. For more information on the Inns of Court activities, see their website: http://innsightsoton.com/
