New LLM Prize announced: The Tatham Macinnes LLP Prize for Top Performer in Marine Insurance Law

The Law School is pleased to announce that it has organised a new LLM prize for the top performer in the Marine Insurance law module. The prize is sponsored by Tatham Macinnes LLP – a leading specialist firm of marine solicitors – and involves a one week placement with the firm, as well as a very generous monetary award.

Alex Macinnes, Managing Partner of Tatham Macinnes and himself an alumni of the Law School said “We are delighted to sponsor this prize and build our relationship with Southampton Law School, one of the top academic institutions specialising in the area. We look forward to welcoming Tracey to our office and congratulate her on her success.”

“This is such a prestigious prize in such a competitive environment,” says Dr Özlem Gürses, the module coordinator for Marine Insurance Law. “We believe that this prize also recognises the prestigious LLM programmes at Southampton Law school within the marine market.”

Dr. Micheál Ó Floinn, the prizes coordinator within the law school, explains that “We have a growing list of LLM prizes sponsored by leading firms and organisations, and we are delighted to be working with Tatham Macinnes LLP. This really is a fantastic opportunity for our students; placements like this are crucial in getting training contracts. Of course, it also allows firms like Tatham Macinnes to see (and grab!) some of the exceptionally talented students that come through our LLM programmes.”

The winner of the prize for 2015/16 is Tracey Sellors, who is in the process of arranging her placement.
