Law students and staff network at inaugural social event for Southampton Law School

Published: 29 November 2016

On 28 November, 40-50 students and staff from Southampton Law School joined together for an evening of relaxed networking and conversation, opened by an address from new Head of School, Professor Brenda Hannigan.

The event was organised due to a desire to celebrate the Law School community. The School prides itself on creating an inclusive and approachable environment and the event was intended to represent and encourage that. The event, organised by both Academic President, Tom Davies and Law School academic, Mark Jordan, enabled staff and students to get to know one another outside of the lecture theatre and bring everyone in the Law School together.

Tom said of the event “Feedback from the event has been very positive, it was great to see staff and students mingling and getting to know one another. We want everyone to feel part of our community and these events give both staff and students the chance to get together and play an active part in it. We hope to hold these events once a semester and are looking to build on the event year on year, with student and staff feedback about what works well."
