What if someone's got the book I want?

If someone else has the book that you want then you can either wait for them to return it, or place a hold on it.

Placing a hold on a book presents no difficulties, as long as you have your University Username and Password (or library card number and PIN), just find the book on the catalogue and select the Place Hold option.

The person who currently has the book will receive a recall notice informing them that another user also needs that book. They will be asked to return the book by the new date on the notice, which will be seven days from the date it was recalled.

Once returned, the Library will notify you by email, and the item will be kept at the Loans Desk for you to collect. If you do not collect it within a week it will be returned to the shelves.
