How do I know if a book is overdue?

The date stamped inside the book is not necessarily a reliable guide to when your book is due back, because whilst you have the book charged to your Library record you will be able to renew it, and other Library users will be able to place holds on it. Either action will mean that the date stamped inside the book is no longer the correct date for the book to be returned by.

There are two ways to find out when a book is due for return, or is overdue:

  • You can keep tabs on the status of your loans by checking the My Account section in WebCat. This will give you all the due dates of books that you have charged, and allow you to renew your loans if possible.
  • If a book is required by another reader and the loan period has been shortened, or if it becomes very overdue, the Library will email you, unless you have opted out of this service. You should check for messages regularly.
