Fire alarm instructions
Prompt attention by everyone is essential in ensuring that in an emergency the building is evacuated quickly and safely. Please note the following:
- Continuous ringing of the fire alarm is an instruction to leave the building. [Ref. Library Regulation 4 (ii)].
- You should leave by the nearest fire exit door (see floor plans). Users with mobility problems should go to the nearest Fire Refuge Point.
- You should proceed to the fire assembly point (see individual plans below). Please move away from the building as crowds close to the exit impede the work of the Emergency Services.
- Wait at the assembly point until you are directed to return to the Library. Library staff will be allowed in first.
