 19C British Pamphlets Post cards of pamphlets created for launch 

Some of the most significant collections of 19th century pamphlets are held in UK research libraries. 23,000 paper copy pamphlets from seven university libraries were digitised by BOPCRIS (JISC Digitisation Call 2007-2009) and focus on political, economic and social issues. These provide an immensely rich and coherent corpus of primary sources with which to study the socio-political and economic landscape of 19th century Britain. The materials are provided by JSTOR and accessed from the website 19C British Pamphlets Online.

EPPI - Enhanced Parliamentary Papers on Ireland Bill relating to Ireland 

Enhanced Parliamentary Papers on Ireland 1801 - 1922 involved the cataloguing and full-text digitisation of a selection of British Parliamentary papers taken from the University of Southampton's unique Ford Collection of Official Publications. Funding was provided by the Arts and Humanities Research Board (AHRB).

The bibliographic records and searchable PDFs are now available for a large majority of the collection through the University of Southampton Library OPAC. No login is required. We recommend you 'Switch to 'Advanced Searches' and limit your search by typing 'EPPI' into words or phrase field plus any other search term.

 

 

 

 

18C British Official Parliamentary PublicationsPages from 18C Parliamentary Papers 

Over 1 million 18th century parliamentary publications were digitised by BOPCRIS under a JISC funded project 2005-2007. The comprehensive collection has been drawn from the University libraries at Southampton and Cambridge and the British Library. Coverage includes the Journals of the House of Commons and Lords, Parliamentary Registers, Sessional Papers of the House of Commons, Acts, Bills and Local and Personal Acts.

Click for web access to the 18th century British Official Parliamentary Publications. Under a JISC agreement, these papers are available free to the UK HE academic community.

BOPCRIS Ford Collection

The Ford selections of British Parliamentary Papers 1801 - 1995 is a finding aid to British Official Publications using a series of printed indexes created by Professor Percy (Peter) Ford (1894-1983) and Dr Grace Ford (1896-1981). The contents of the indexes were integrated into a bibliographic database with additional detailed abstracting and indexing with funding provided by New Opportunities Fund (NOF), Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC). This database has now been incorporated into the University of Southampton Library OPAC.

Plymouth Medical Society historic collection 

The Unit undertook the digitisation of original texts for the Plymouth Medical Society and included notes taken by John Clarke in 1781 from Mr Hunter's lectures on surgery.

From History to Her Story

One of the earliest of our digitising projects was created in partnership with West Yorkshire Archive Service. A large paper based resource was compiled into an online site detailing Yorkshire women's lives from 1100 to the present day. The site contains digitised full text documents and teaching materials.

Hidden Lives Revealed

Another project under the NOF programme in association with the Children's Society crated a virtual archive about children in care 1881-1918. The site contains photographs, a database of children's homes with links to related full-text case file documents about children in those homes, activities, articles and learning materials.

Supporting Assistive Technology extract from the Journal of the House of Lords with braille

Assistive Technology is a new and growing area for us and we are able to offer scans for text readers and braille under the sanction of the CLA.
