Service offered
We have been digitising for ten years and offer our experience of digital image capture of bound and unbound materials as an external service. An integrated workflow is utilised to ensure high standards of quality control for all materials scanned. We can supply optical character recognition (OCR) and transcription services together with standards compliant metadata.

- Books, journals, magazines, ledgers
- Printed texts, drawings, maps and manuscripts
- Rare and valuable books
- Page sizes up to 59x84cms (A2)
- All materials must either be out of copyright or have the rights owner permission to copy
Transport and on-site storage of materials
- Secure onsite storage of materials
- Storage in temperature controlled environment
- Secure commercial transport can be arranged
Available scanning procedures
- Hand scanning of fragile single sheet materials
- Capture from delicate materials
- Capture from bound volumes without destroying the binding
- High volume scanning of single/double sided A4 sheets
Digital Images
- Black and white, grey and colour (1-bit, 8-bit, 24-bit colour depth)
- True resolution output 200-600 dots per inch (dpi)
- Output formats include TIFF, JPG, searchable PDF
- Uncompressed TIFF (6.0) images at archival quality
Optical Character Recognition (OCR)
- Abbyy 8.0 and Abbyy XIX used for ocr of printed texts, including specialist fonts and foreign languages
- Text transcription
