Current awareness

There are many ways of staying up to date with the latest research and resources. Most of these services use email alerting, though RSS feeds are increasingly becoming an alternative.

Tables of contents: Zetoc Alert

Zetoc is a database of the tables of contents of the British Library's current journals and conference proceedings. Zetoc Alert allows you to receive e-mail alerts as new issues of relevant journals are published. An Institutional login will be needed to use this feature.

Many ejournals also allow you to register for contents pages to be emailed to you as new issues appear. See if this is the case for your most relevant journals by accessing the ejournals you're interested in, using TDNet.

Saved searches

Many journal databases offer updating services allowing you to save a search, and be emailed newly published articles which match that search criteria as they are added to the database. Zetoc Alert has this feature as do many of our bibliographic databases. Check your subject page if you're not sure which database is most relevant for you.

Eprint archives

Eprint, or pre-print, archives are an increasingly popular method of publishing the very latest research through services such as ArXiv. However, coverage varies considerably by subject area, so use your subject page to find out about any of relevance to you.

Websites

Various services alert you to new or newly discovered websites.

Again, your subject page will direct you to any of direct relevance to your area.
