Web of Science backfiles: 1970s

The Library now had access to the Web of Science backfiles, extending its coverage of journal literature to the 1970s.

Thanks to funding from the JISC, our coverage of the Web of Science databases has been extended as follows:

  • Arts & Humanities Citation Index: 1975 - present
  • Science Citation Index: 1970 - 1980
  • Social Science Citation Index: 1970 - 1980

(The databases previously went back as far as 1981)

Earlier and alternative indexes

If you need to research further back in the literature, then the Hartley Library has the Science Citation Index in print back to 1961. You may also find that some subject specific indexes in your area cover literature beyond the 1970s - consult the relevant subject page for more information about indexes in your topic area.
