Special Collections exhibition: "The Sea"

Two ships fighting in the Battle of TrafalgarUsing material from the manuscript and printed collections of the Special Collection Division, this exhibition has been arranged to mark the bicentenary of the Battle of Trafalgar and to coincide, on 30 November, with the Wellington Lecture "The immortal and the hero: Nelson and Wellington" by the eminent maritime law and naval history scholar Professor Andrew Lambert.

Drawing material from the Broadlands Archives, the Wellington Papers and the Cope Collection of material on Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, the first three cases of the exhibition consider different aspects of the role of the Royal Navy in the defence of the British Isles and its empire.
