Pilot of Hartley Library extended opening
From Monday 22 May 2006 the Library will open from 08:30 until 02:00 every day, until 02:00 Monday 5 June.
Admission during extended opening
- Admission during extended opening is for those with a University Smartcard only. Please bring your card with you - you cannot gain entry through the doors or the turnstiles without it!
You asked us for extended opening - help each other and help us to make it a success!
Safety and security
- Security staff are in the building - if you need them ask at Reception.
- Be responsible for your own safety.
- Study and work in the Library in pairs or groups.
- Level 5 is out of bounds as a study area but you may collect and return books from there.
- Make sure you know where your nearest fire exit is, should you hear the fire alarm.
- Ask at the Reception Desk if you would like to borrow a personal alarm while you are in the Library. Please return it when you leave. If you need to activate the alarm Security staff will attend.
- Travel home in groups.
- There is a public telephone in the Library entrance with details of taxi firms.
- Take care of personal property - abandoned bags will be removed.
Library and IT services available
- Books, journals, electronic resources.
- Borrow books via the self-issue unit, return books via the return slots.
- Computers and printers.
- Photocopiers.
- The Loans and Enquiry desks will not be staffed during extended opening.
- The Group Study rooms will be out of bounds.
- As we are unable to provide normal staffing levels some services (e.g. due to machine break-down) cannot be guaranteed.
Feedback
Use the feedback forms on the Reception and Enquiry Desks to report any unresolved issues and Library staff will follow up the next day.
Library rules
Normal library regulations apply during extended opening, including:
- No food or drink (other than water) is permitted in the Library, except outside Lattes.
- Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the Library.
- Mobile phones must be switched off or set to silent mode when entering the building (you may go to the Library entrance to make a call).
