Self-issue & return at Hartley & Biomedical Sciences
The Library has invested further in self-service technology. Building on the increasing popularity of our self-issue unit in the Hartley Library, we have acquired two new units for the Hartley Library and one unit for Biomedical Sciences Library.
All three new units offer self-issue and, for the first time, self-return.
All units operate throughout opening hours, enabling you to both issue and return items yourself. Instructions are given on screen and printed receipts are produced at the end of each transaction.
During the 2005-6 session, self-issue transactions at Hartley increased by 39% on the previous year and accounted for 21% of all issues at Hartley.
By expanding this facility further, particularly as we extend opening hours, more people will benefit from the increased flexibility this service offers.
